Throughout the Bible we find examples of the struggle to turn away from idols, and false gods. From the worshipers of Baal who Elijah challenged and definitively proved God’s power when his appeal to God was heard and Baal’s worshipers met only silence (see I Kings:18) to the more insidious idolization of human law that confronted Jesus in his ministry, we see the great need to purify our thought. By turning away from the world and its assertions of false authority, and turning to divine Mind’s clear statement of Truth, we find safety and prosperity. This month we are to take special note of the need to cast out any idols we see around us.
