“To do thy will is greater than sacrifice can be, O give me needed courage, sweet with sincerity.” This line from hymn 151 in the Christian Science Hymnal touches on important aspects of selfless behavior. Consider that doing God’s will, being obedient to His direction, is greater than any sacrifice we could contemplate. It also speaks of the sincere courage that is needed to do God’s will, courage which exemplifies the ability to sacrifice. As you go about your day, look for ways that by doing God’s will, you have lifted your sense of service, no longer seeing unselfish acts as sacrificing your time or your progress, but providing joyous support to everyone you meet. Living a more genuine life of sacrifice is our prayerful task given to us this month by the Reading Room.
