Have you ever felt such nagging thoughts as, “I don’t fit in,” “I don’t belong here,” “No one understands me.” These thoughts, pursued, lead down a path of isolation. In such extreme moments, the Psalmist’s promise is a beacon of hope, “God setteth the solitary in families:” (Ps. 68:8). We see that we are loving, lovable, and beloved. We then realize we are always in the embrace of our Father-Mother God, always cherished, never alone. Throughout September, the Reading Room encourages us to set aside the subtle lies of separation and discover our constant partnership with fellow man.
